Assistant Professor, Faculty of Forestry

Caspersen ImageI am interested in human impacts on the structure, composition, and function of forest ecosystems, as well as the interactions between forest ecosystems, global biogeochemical cycles, and climate. Most of my current research is focused on the following four topics:1) the effects of partial harvesting on residual stand dynamics, 2) canopy structure and light transmission in selection-managed forests, 3) the role of forests in mitigating the rise of atmospheric CO2, and 4) the role of forests in exacerbating the rise of tropospheric ozone.
